It is hard to believe it is already 2012. I hope everyone has had a happy and healthy holiday. Please find enclosed our schedule for the spring season. Please read carefully.
Regular Schedule from Fall
Will resume January 16th for our under 11 through under 14 boys and girls. The training schedule is the same as the Fall. Parents, players and training staff are already in a routine and I would like to keep it that way.
High School Schedule
Our high school trainers are Travis, Doug and myself. Our high school players will train every Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. boys and girls. The first session will start January 18th and will end March 7th. Make the session light and fun. The high school teams will resume their regular training schedule the week of March 19th.
Spring Break
The week of March 12th, we will have a modified training schedule for the week of Spring Break. We will offer training Tuesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 15th. The sessions will start at 5:30 p.m. and finish at 7:00. This is an open session for all our players that are in town. So, March 13th and 15th, 5:30 to 7:00, for all boys and girls under 11 through under 14.
Easter
The only changes to our training schedule over Easter will be no training on April 5th which is Holy Thursday and no training on April 6th which is Good Friday.
Goal Keeping Training
We will be with Doug which will also start January 16th, again, the same schedule as before.
Spring Tournaments
See the attached document for information on ASC approved Spring tournaments.

Congratulations to the U7 and U8 Kingwood Alliance Lightning girls’ teams who performed extraordinarily well at the Texas Rush Annual Winter Blast 3v3 Tournament. Not only did both teams go undefeated in competition play for their respective age groups, they won each game by an average margin of six goals. Their continued dominance in Houston-area tournaments is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and reflective of KASC’s commitment to developing our youth. Both Kingwood Alliance Lightning teams will be showcasing their talents at the 3v3 Kick-It World Championships in Orlando in January.
Congratulations to: U7 Lightning: Renee Alcala, Isabella Hernandez, Reagan Sells, Maddie Oberholtzer, Aamori Wilson, Ava Shannon, and coach Mark Oberholtzer. U8 Lightning: Nicolle Valle, Kate Castaneda, Saviana Augustine, Brianna Hoffman, Danielle Shannon, and coach John Shannon.

Kingwood Alliance Soccer Club has partnered with Acceleration Soccer Academy to bring you a FREE soccer clinic to benefit Kingwood Alliance Lightning teams, who will represent Houston in their quest to win the 3v3 World Championships in January, 2012. This special event is offered exclusively to Alliance soccer players ages 5-8 in appreciation for your commitment to the club.
Acceleration Soccer Academy (ASA) is dedicated to the development of our youth through structured training that challenges players physically, while continually reinforcing good habits and technique. ASA has designed this clinic with our youth in mind, which provides circuit training to test the skill level of all players through passing, dribbling, heading, and shooting. Each station will provide instruction and guidance from one of our experienced trainers - who are parents just like you and who value our kids first. The clinic will wrap up with small-sided games and challenge the players to apply the skills and techniques they learned from earlier circuit training. Water stations will be available and proper soccer attire is required – cleats and shin guards.
To participate in this event, simply complete and sign the waiver form, and bring it with you to the clinic. Children will not be allowed to participate unless a waiver form is properly completed. During the clinic, T-shirts will be sold and cash donations will be accepted to benefit Kingwood Alliance Lightning teams.
Should you have any questions, please contact John Shannon at 713-614-2595.
Date: Saturday, December 3, 2011 Time: 10am – 1pm Where: North Park Fields |

Parents, Coaches and Coordinators:
As this fall season prepares to start I just wanted to make you all aware of my decision over the summer to resign as Recreation Director for Kingwood Alliance.
I have watched the number of kids in this club grow, enjoying soccer the way it should be played, “Fun first”. I have been in charge of the recreation group for over 6 years trying to help Mark and Carlos fulfill their vision of a soccer program for the right reasons. I have seen River Grove overflow with players and now our expansion to include North Park. I see lots of great things happening in the future as well, as the club continues to grow, mainly via word of mouth.
Unfortunately, growth requires more time and effort, which I was just running out of. My job requirements have increased adding more travel and I just didn’t feel I could focus the same attention to the program as I have in the past. Just not enough time in the day for family, work and volunteer efforts. We have a good base to work from, with great people helping that have made those tasks easier, but I think it is time for some new blood to help take the club to the next level.
I will continue to help out as my schedule allows, because I still very much believe in this club and want to see it continue to grow.
Thanks to all our coordinators, coaches and parents for giving the kids a chance to play a truly fun game and thank you for your support!
John Hancock
